Serenade

Met you in a digital heartbeat Face party nights and a retro beat I was twenty-three, you said hello to me Tried to play it cool, oh, but you could see Told you 'bout my brother, yeah, a little white lie Said he was a fireman, six foot high But you saw right through it, yeah, we just laughed Started chatting 'til the night just flew on past And oh, it's an '80s love song, baby Bright lights, big dreams, you're my lady From the first hello to that midnight laughter Every day with you just got a little bit brighter Oh, we're dancing through the years, hand in hand You and me together to the beat of the band From that first spark to the life we've made You're my forever '80s serenade Drove my red Ford, felt so cool, knocked on your door Tried not to play the fool You opened up with that hair falling down I was lost in a moment, couldn't make a sound We laugh about my dad and his Xbox game You did your zippy voice, yeah, never been the same From Barney days to country roads You've been my rock, my heart, my home And oh, it's an '80s love song, baby Bright lights, big dreams, you're my lady From the first hello to that midnight laughter Every day with you just got a little bit brighter Oh, we're dancing through the years, hand in hand You and me together to the beat of the band From that first spark to the life we've made You're my forever '80s serenade Now every day you just shine more bright We built this life, everything feels right From cats to countryside, love's only grown You're my '80s dream girl, yeah, love's full-blown Forever '80s serenade And oh, it's an '80s love song, baby Memories golden, never fading From the first hello to the life we've made You're my always and forever, my '80s serenade
